Tignes Apres Ski Report: 16th April 2013
Goodbye from the Kiwis
This last week has been filled with very boozy nights, a sweat busting clean up and limited riding. I was hoping for my last week we would be treated to 7 days of blue birds, however it wasn't to be. It didn't stop us getting out and about enjoying the last of our season by getting very messed up and saying peace to the last four and a half months in style.
On Wednesday night we headed along to So Bar to compete in their beer pong competition. Last time Mog and Cam came second, however this time the Kiwi flat had two teams in the 20 team strong field gunning to take out the top spot and the €200 bar tab that came with it. Johnny and myself had the harder draw out of the two Kiwi teams but knocked them out one by one to find ourselves ponging for the cup. Cam and Mog would have to be disappointed with their showing, just scraping past the novice team until their chase came to an end against two female Australians.
By the time the final came around, I was seeing more than the 10 cups I was aiming at, but it didn't stop Johnny and I getting inside the opponents' heads with some top class trash talking. The highlight having to be getting them to throw their balls at us, counting as their shot, then draining ours 1,2 to take the cup. The bar tab was smashed, I woke up soaking wet and the Kiwis were the 2013 So Bar beer pong champs. A big shout out to J.P and Fairy for all your help this season! We all appreciate what you have done for us and for providing us all with so many great nights. We will be back for sure and wish you all the best for future ventures and seasons.
On Saturday night the Alpaka Lodge had DJ Virus in for a shindig that had the seasonaires excited. It also worked out well for our last hurrah, as the rest of the Kiwis left back to the UK the following day. The place was abuzz and was a great way to say goodbye to many of our mates. The Alpaka holds its events well and everyone gets right in to it. The d-floor was pumping with great beats from Virus. The night turned out pretty messy as it so often does, a perfect way to sign off the season. The Alpaka is right up there with my favourites.
This last 4.5 months has been unreal! We were treated to one of the best snow seasons for half a century, had an amazing crew - both full time and visitors who came to get amongst it - as well as our seasonaire amigos. I will never forget my time here in Tignes due to all of this and the ink on my right butt cheek might help!
I would like to thank Tignesnet.com and Soph for keeping my brain working throughout with this job ("bless" - Soph, Conent Editor) my amazing girl friend for putting up with the ski bum boy friend, the visitors to the Kiwi flat, some crazy nights with you all and the many friends made out in this incredible winter wonderland that is Tignes.
Thanks for reading and take care
