Small quiet village set just up the mountain at 1,800 metres located by the Tignes dam

featured in Towns & villages Updated

Tignes 1800 (Les Boisses) is the quietest of the Tignes resorts, set back from the main road and situated on the mountainside.

It underwent a massive renovation and not only has it been rebranded Tignes 1800, but MGM built a large eco-resort that was completed in 2014. Set lower than other Tignes resorts it's the first one that you reach once you cross the spectacular Tignes dam.

Tignes 1800 is fast becoming a popular place to stay. With the new renovations, quiet feel, slightly cheaper prices and great location it is an excellent part of Tignes to stay in, in both the winter and the summer.

The summertime in Tignes 1800 (Les Boisses) is extremely quiet, the mountains go from white snowy peaks to lush green tree-covered rocks. There is still plenty to enjoy and do in the summertime with a whole host of summer activities that are perfect for families and groups.

As Tignes 1800 (Les Boisses) is only a short bus journey or drive from the more central resorts you can enjoy everything the mountains have to offer in the summertime. Whether it be hiking and walking, mountain biking or just exploring the villages and visiting the Tignes lake. You can also nip up to Tignes Val Claret, which about a 15-minute bus ride drive, and whizz up the Grande Motte to enjoy some summer skiing on the glacier.
